Former Minister and Tripura Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Tuesday called upon the electorate to register their protest against the BJP in the upcoming Dharmanagar Assembly by-election in North Tripura.
Speaking at a campaign event supporting Congress candidate Chayan Bhattacharya, Roy Barman accused the BJP of suppressing democratic rights and presiding over a period of corruption, unrest, and violence.
He encouraged voters to base their choice on firsthand experiences, saying, “The people of Tripura have witnessed eight years of state governance and twelve years at the Centre. They are fully aware of the situation. While changing the government may not be the complete solution, BJP supporters must acknowledge the shortcomings in governance. We urge them to vote for the Congress candidate to help steer the party back on the right track.”
On the prevailing conditions under BJP rule, he remarked, “Democratic rights are being curtailed, and the state has endured a reign characterized by loot, unrest, and violence. We believe the people will respond at the EVMs. I appeal to voters to send a clear message to the BJP by supporting Congress.”
