Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha Friday held a telephonic conversation with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, urging immediate repair and expedited completion of ongoing construction on national highways in the state, which have been severely damaged due to continuous rainfall over the past two days.
According to officials from the Chief Minister’s Office, several stretches of national highways across Tripura have suffered damage due to the incessant downpour.
Construction work is already underway in some areas, adding to public inconvenience and hampering daily movement.
“Taking note of the situation, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha spoke with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and requested urgent intervention for repair and swift completion of highway construction to restore normalcy,” an official said.
Union Minister Gadkari, in response, assured the Chief Minister of prompt action.
Among the affected areas, a stretch of the national highway in Khowai district has been particularly impacted by the heavy rains.
