As part of its oversight of state-owned enterprises, the Committee on Public Undertakings (CPU) of the Tripura Legislative Assembly undertook a spot inspection of the Tripura Gas Based Power Station (TGBPS) at Monarchak in Sepahijala district on July 23.
The inspection was led by the Committee's Chairman, Shri Chitta Ranjan Debbarma, along with other members of the legislative panel. The visit was conducted under the Assembly Secretariat's scheduled programme to evaluate the functioning of public sector undertakings.
The delegation was welcomed by Shri Gautom Gogoi, Head of Project (HOP), who briefed the members on the plant's activities. A detailed technical presentation was subsequently delivered by Shri Ajit Dubey, Deputy General Manager (Technical), outlining the power station's operational status, generation performance, maintenance initiatives, and overall plant efficiency.
During the interaction, officials also apprised the committee of the major operational hurdles confronting the project. Among the key concerns discussed were inadequate natural gas availability and limitations in the power evacuation network, both of which have affected the plant's ability to operate at its full installed capacity.
The committee reviewed the issues in detail and interacted with plant officials to gain a better understanding of the challenges and the measures being taken to enhance operational reliability. The visit forms part of the Assembly's continuing efforts to monitor the performance of public undertakings and ensure improved efficiency in critical infrastructure projects across Tripura.
