Voting for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections concluded on Sunday at 5 PM, recording an impressive turnout of around 83%, despite a few isolated disturbances.
According to Tripura State Election Commission Secretary Anurag Sen, polling began at 7 AM and proceeded largely without major incidents. While some minor complaints and sporadic clashes were reported in certain areas, the situation was quickly brought under control by the police, ensuring an overall peaceful voting process.
Sen noted that no significant violence was reported across the state. Although a few technical issues were detected in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the morning mock polls, they were promptly replaced. Importantly, no EVM malfunctions were reported during the actual voting period.
However, the Commission has ordered a re-poll at polling station 17/39 under the 17 Pekurjala-Janmejoynagar constituency in Sepahijala district, following allegations of ballot unit tampering. The re-poll is scheduled to take place on April 16.
Final voter turnout figures are expected to be confirmed after the completion of report compilation.
