Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Saturday said that railway overbridges are an integral part of railway infrastructure as they significantly ease the daily lives of people by ensuring safe and smooth movement across railway lines.
The Minister stated that railway overbridges play a crucial role in maintaining uninterrupted train operations while helping pedestrians and vehicles cross railway tracks safely, thereby reducing the risk of accidents.
To address various issues related to the proposed construction of railway overbridges over railway crossing lines at different locations under the Jirania sub-division, including the Majlishpur Assembly constituency, the Transport Minister chaired an important meeting today at the conference hall of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Jirania.
The meeting was attended by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Jirania, elected representatives from different levels of the sub-division, officials from the Transport Department, Public Works Department (Roads and Buildings), NHIDCL, and senior officials and representatives of the Northeast Frontier Railway.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on resolving the challenges related to land, alignment, coordination among departments, and timely execution of the proposed overbridge projects.
The Minister emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination to ensure that the projects are implemented efficiently in the interest of public safety and convenience.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening transport and railway-related infrastructure to support safe mobility and overall development in the region.
