Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today said that the state government is working towards strengthening tourism infrastructure by harnessing Tripura’s rich natural and cultural resources, with the objective of creating employment opportunities and boosting economic growth.

As part of this initiative, tourism infrastructure is being developed in the Sonamukhi area of Kailashahar with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project is being implemented under the direct supervision of the State Tourism Department.

The Minister said that the Sonamukhi project aims to transform the area into a major tourism destination. Under the project, construction work is currently underway for an adventure park, eco-accommodation facilities including standard cottages, suite cottages and deluxe cottages, along with administrative buildings, manager and staff quarters, banquet halls, and boundary fencing for the entire project area.

“The main objective of our Tourism Department is to build a strong and sustainable tourism sector by effectively utilizing the cultural heritage and natural beauty of Tripura,” Chowdhury said.

On Tuesday, the Minister visited the project site and reviewed the progress of the ongoing work in the presence of the Secretary, Director, and other senior officials and representatives of the Tourism Department. He was briefed in detail about the current status of the project.

During the inspection, the Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high standards of quality.

Once completed, the Sonamukhi tourism project is expected to significantly enhance the state’s tourism potential and contribute to local employment generation and overall economic development.
