Tipra Motha MLA Philip Kumar Reang has filed an FIR against four persons, including Pratik Dev Varma who is the son of Telangana Governor and former Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma accusing them of issuing life threats in an alleged drunken state late Monday night.

According to the FIR lodged at the New Capital Complex Police Station on Tuesday, the MLA stated that he was engaged in a family discussion at his Government Quarter No. 209 (MLA Hostel, near ILS Hospital) when three individuals arrived and wrongfully restrained him, interfering in his personal matters.

“I requested them to leave the place and allow me to stay alone. Instead, they became more aggressive and started hurling violent and abusive words, threatening to slit my throat. They also threatened to kill me and claimed they would bring 400–500 BJP workers to eliminate me and my family,” the MLA alleged.

He further stated that the three persons had come out of the MLA Hostel room of Promode Reang, MLA of Santirbazar constituency.

Calling the incident a “deep-rooted criminal conspiracy,” Reang said he was forced to rush to the government quarter of MLA Biswajit Kalai to save his life. “The family members of MLA Biswajit Kalai sheltered me. As such, I, along with my family, now feel entirely insecure following the expressed threats,” he mentioned in his complaint.

Reang urged police to take appropriate legal action to ensure the safety and security of his family and property.
