Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today announced that the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), a part of the Tata Group, would spend Rs 250 crore to set up a five-star hotel at Pushpabanta Palace, for which a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today.

Dr. Saha said this after the signing of the MoU between the Government of Tripura and Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) in Agartala.

"On this special day, we have signed an MoU that will be remembered as a milestone in the history of Tripura. We had been discussing this for a long time, but finalization took some time. The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), a part of the Taj Group, has signed the MoU with us to construct a five-star hotel. This is the first time in history that such an MoU has been signed with the Tripura government for a world-class palace hotel, which will be known as Taj Pushpabanta Palace Hotel," he said.

Dr. Saha mentioned that this hotel would include four exclusive royal-style suites and around 100 rooms.

“With this project, people from outside the state will visit, and it will also highlight the legacy of the Manikya Dynasty. The main aim is to boost tourism. When tourists come, they will not only stay in the hotel but also visit our famous tourist destinations, increasing overall tourist footfall. Around 200 employment opportunities will be generated directly, and many more scopes will arise indirectly in construction, food, raw materials, and other sectors. This is indeed a proud moment for us. PM Modi wants Tripura to move forward, and we are working towards building a modern Tripura. Such initiatives will place Tripura on the world map. Around Rs. 250 crore will be invested over the next three years," he added.
