The South Tripura Summer Sports Camp and State-Based Under-14 Kho Kho Coaching Camp 2025 began today with much enthusiasm at the Old Town Hall in Bilonia.
The program was inaugurated by Tripura's Cooperative Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, who underscored the transformative power of sports in shaping the future of young students.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Noatia emphasized that sports can play a vital role in shielding students from drug abuse, child marriage, and other forms of misguidance.
“These camps will significantly contribute to the physical and mental development of our youth and help in identifying new sports talents,” he added.
The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including South Tripura Zilla Parishad President Deepak Dutta, South District Magistrate Md Sajjad P, Padma Shri awardee and renowned gymnast Deepa Karmakar, social worker Dipayan Chowdhury, District Sports Officer Mihir Shil, and District Education Officer Subir Majumdar.
The summer coaching camp, covering 17 sports disciplines, will be held across 55 locations in South Tripura and will run until June 7. Simultaneously, the state-based Under-14 Kho Kho coaching camp, being held at the BKI Ground, will also continue till June 7, with 70 participants taking part.
A special highlight of the event was the felicitation of 16 young athletes who brought laurels to the state by securing gold, silver, and bronze medals at the National Kung Fu Competition.
The initiative is aimed at nurturing grassroots-level sports talent and instilling discipline and healthy habits among the youth of the district.
