In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, South Tripura Police seized 210.5 kilograms of suspected dried ganja during a raid conducted under the jurisdiction of P.R. Bari Police Station in South Tripura district.
Acting on credible intelligence, a police team led by SI Ratan Rabi Das, Officer-in-Charge of P.R. Bari Police Station, along with DySP K. Reang (Prob), SI Niran Debbarma, SI Bikash Debnath, and personnel from DCM, BLN, and the District Mobile Forensic Team, carried out a raid at a residential premises in the West Pipariakhola area.
During the search operation, police discovered six plastic drums and five plastic sack bags buried underground inside a newly constructed house. Upon weighing, a total of 210.5 kg of suspected dried ganja was recovered and seized. A motorcycle bearing registration number TR-08-G-7953 was also confiscated following due legal procedures.
The occupants of the house fled the scene upon noticing the police. Efforts are currently underway to trace and apprehend those involved.
A case has been registered at P.R. Bari Police Station under Case No. 18/2026, under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C), 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is in progress.
The operation is part of the ongoing intensified anti-narcotics drive under the supervision of Mourya Krishna, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Tripura, who has directed all units to strengthen enforcement and take sustained action against drug trafficking networks.
The crackdown also reflects the commitment of Anurag, IPS, Director General of Police, Tripura, towards strict action against narcotics-related crimes in the state.
Tripura Police reiterated its commitment to achieving the vision of a “Nasha Mukt Tripura” through intelligence-based operations and continuous enforcement against drug trafficking.
