Labour Minister Tinku Roy on Thursday morning inspected the Srirampur-Golakpur road under the Chandipur Assembly constituency along with officials of the concerned department.

After the inspection, the minister said that although the tender for the road construction project had been issued several years ago, the work remained incomplete. He alleged that negligence by the contractor and obstruction from certain politically influential individuals had delayed the project for a long time.

Roy said that after resolving the legal complications, the state government has once again approved the construction work and the project is expected to resume soon.

The minister also said that the government plans to construct drains along both sides of the road to prevent waterlogging and protect the road from damage in the future. He added that discussions are being held with local residents and their cooperation has been sought for the smooth implementation of the project.

Residents of the area have expressed hope that the long-pending road construction will be completed at the earliest, bringing an end to their prolonged difficulties.
