Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Mann Ki Baat programme to establish a direct connection with the common people.
“He has announced a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. The Tripura government has also continued its fight against drugs with the same policy,” he said.
Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha said this while participating in a programme organised by Badharghat Mandal on the occasion of the 138th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's monthly Mann Ki Baat programme.
Participating in the discussion, Dr. Saha said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has raised some special issues in the Mann Ki Baat programme today.
“He reminds us of the work being done by the Central Government on the last Sunday of every month. Today, he once again reminded us of the surgical strike carried out by going inside Pakistan. He also said that along with the surgical strike, India has carried out air strikes and Operation Sindoor. This shows how strong India has become in the field of defence. After all these operations, the world has understood where India's military power stands. If any country or state is not strong, people will not be able to live in peace. Because the main condition for development is peace,” said Dr. Saha.
Dr. Saha said that the Prime Minister said that earlier, enemies would enter India and slit the throats of our soldiers, and only condemnation would follow. But after taking office as Prime Minister in 2014, Narendra Modi made it clear that if we are attacked, no one will be spared. That is why the country is now very strong in terms of security.
The Chief Minister said that a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism has now been established.
“The former Chief Minister of our Tripura government said, ‘Mann Ki Baat—what is this again? People do not even watch Mann Ki Baat programmes.’ So I have said several times before that you should come with me. Because not only in Tripura, but also outside India, people watch Mann Ki Baat programmes. They already have a negative mentality, which still exists. The opposition party always has a role in democracy. But now there is a situation that is beyond words,” said Dr. Saha.
The Chief Minister also said that today too, many people enjoyed the Mann Ki Baat programme through screens at different places.
“The Prime Minister introduced himself to the people through his work. In today's programme, he also paid tribute to Ashok Singhal of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Prime Minister Modi showed how to respect people. He also mentioned what he has done for the country,” he said.
Dr. Saha said that to protect the youth from the clutches of drugs, the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against them.
“The Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister are also saying this. Those who are selling drugs will not be given any concessions. But the government has sympathy for those who have fallen victim to drugs. Therefore, everyone should be alert and vigilant against drugs,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Mann Ki Baat programme to establish a connection with the common people. He is conducting this programme through radio to communicate with people in the most remote areas.
Present at the event were Badharghat MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, BJP state vice-president Ratan Ghosh, Sadar BJP president Asim Bhattacharya and other senior leaders.
