Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today criticized the BJP government, highlighting the lack of employment and development under its rule.

Sarkar said this while addressing the 11th State Conference of the Tripura Leather Artisans Association was held on Sunday at Bhanu Smriti Bhavan in Agartala. 

Former Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar, attended the event as the chief guest.

During his speech, Sarkar strongly criticized the BJP government, highlighting the lack of employment and development under its rule. 

He also pointed out the unchecked rise in the prices of essential commodities, which has pushed common people into severe distress. 

“There is no work, there is no food—people are becoming helpless in this situation,” he remarked.

Addressing the leather artisans, Sarkar urged them to shift from repairing old shoes to initiating new shoe production. 

He emphasized the need for proper infrastructure and administrative support from the government to sustain the industry and create more employment opportunities.

The conference was attended by leather artisans and representatives of the association from various parts of the state. Discussions focused on the current challenges facing the leather industry, its potential, and strategies for its future development.
