Bhagwant Mann may not attend the government’s high-profile anti-drug rally in Moga after being admitted to a private hospital in Mohali due to exhaustion.
The Chief Minister was taken to Fortis Hospital Mohali on Sunday evening from Dhuri after his blood pressure reportedly spiked. According to a medical statement issued by the hospital, Mann underwent routine evaluation and comprehensive diagnostic tests. Doctors said his vital parameters are stable and within normal range, but he has been admitted for observation and supportive care under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team.
The “anti-drug” mega rally is part of the Punjab government’s ‘Yuddh Nasheyan Viruddh’ campaign aimed at combating drug abuse in the state. The event is expected to be attended by Arvind Kejriwal, along with Cabinet ministers from the Aam Aadmi Party government.
Earlier in the day, Mann and Kejriwal offered prayers at the revered Rankeshwar Mahadev Temple and performed rituals at the historic Siddh Peeth in Dhuri on the occasion of Mahashivratri. Extending greetings to the public, Kejriwal described the festival as a reflection of India’s deep-rooted spiritual heritage and prayed for the well-being of citizens.
Mann reiterated his government’s commitment to preserving Punjab’s spiritual and cultural traditions. He highlighted state efforts to commemorate significant occasions such as the Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur and the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass with devotion and pride.
This is not the first time the Chief Minister has faced health concerns. In September 2025, he was discharged from Fortis Hospital after being admitted for exhaustion and a low heart rate, which led to the cancellation of his visit to flood-affected regions. A year earlier, in September 2024, doctors had reported increased pulmonary artery pressure that affected his heart function and caused fluctuations in blood pressure.
Officials have not yet confirmed whether Mann will address the rally virtually or skip the event entirely.
