Agartala police have thwarted another attempt to smuggle marijuana illegally. A joint operation by the GRP (Government Railway Police) and RPF (Railway Protection Force) led to the arrest of two young men and a woman at Agartala Railway Station. The recovered marijuana is estimated to be worth over Rs 2 lakh in the market.
According to police sources, a regular inspection was underway at the station when the suspicious movement of the three individuals caught the attention of the officers on duty. They were immediately detained, and a search was conducted.
During the search, a total of 13,250 grams of dried marijuana were recovered from three separate bags. The market value of the seized contraband is estimated to be around Rs 2 lakh.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sujit Majumdar (resident of Edinagar), Shyamal Das (resident of Teliamura, South Pulimura), and Sita Devi (resident of Burdwan, West Bengal). The police have filed cases against them under relevant sections of the law and launched an investigation.
