ension prevailed at Mohanpur Primary Health Centre under Tripura's West District on Saturday morning following the death of a patient, with family members accusing the medical staff of negligence.
The deceased, identified as Dipankar Debnath of Jagatpur under Mohanpur, was brought to the health centre after he complained of severe breathing difficulties.
His family members alleged that despite his critical condition, oxygen support was not available at the facility.
According to the patient’s son, a junior doctor examined Debnath but failed to provide oxygen support. The family further claimed that no senior doctor was present to authorize a referral to GB Pant Hospital in Agartala.
“Due to the delay and lack of proper treatment, my father collapsed within the hospital premises,” alleged the son.
The incident triggered chaos at the health centre, with locals staging protests over the alleged negligence. Health authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter.
