A delegation from the National People’s Party (NPP) in Meghalaya arrived at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport on Wednesday to show support for the Tipra Motha Party ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections scheduled for April 12, 2026.
The team was led by NPP Working President James Sangma and included MLAs Sanjay A. Sangma, Ian Botham Sangma, and MDC Stevie M. Marak. They were welcomed at the airport by party workers and supporters.
Speaking to the media, James Sangma said the visit underlines the NPP’s commitment to fostering stronger regional cooperation across the Northeast. He expressed solidarity with Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, also known as Bubagra, and affirmed the party’s full backing in the upcoming elections.
He stated that the delegation would actively engage in campaign activities and provide all possible support to strengthen Tipra Motha’s prospects.
Sangma also emphasized the broader vision of “One Northeast,” highlighting the importance of unity among regional political forces to address common issues and aspirations.
The NPP leaders are expected to participate in several campaign events across TTAADC areas in the coming days, indicating a strategic alliance ahead of the polls. The upcoming elections are considered significant for determining the political direction of tribal regions in Tripura, where Tipra Motha is aiming to reinforce its position.
