A state-level Consensus Workshop on the National Mental Health Survey-2 (NMHS-2) was organised at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) & GBP Hospital on Saturday, focusing on strengthening preparations for the nationwide mental health survey in Tripura.
Held under the theme “Better Mental Health for a Healthier India,” the workshop was organised in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. The programme brought together senior health officials, medical professionals and field-level representatives to discuss the planned implementation of the survey across the state.
The workshop was chaired by Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Tripura.
A virtual interaction was also conducted with Dr. N. Girish and other experts from NIMHANS, Bengaluru, who provided technical guidance and outlined key aspects of the upcoming survey and its field-level implementation.
The discussions centred on developing an effective operational roadmap for conducting NMHS-2 in Tripura. Participants exchanged views on inter-agency coordination, field-level preparedness, manpower requirements and specialised training for personnel involved in the survey.
Senior officials present at the workshop included the Principal of AGMC & GBP Hospital, the Medical Superintendent and Deputy Medical Superintendent, Joint Director of the Health & Family Welfare Department, Joint Director and Member Secretary of the National Health Mission (NHM), Tripura, and the Head of the Department of Microbiology at AGMC.
Chief Medical Officers and Sub-Divisional Medical Officers from different districts of the state also participated in the programme.
The workshop concluded with discussions on ensuring effective coordination among stakeholders and establishing a systematic mechanism for the smooth implementation of NMHS-2 across all districts of Tripura.
