Tragedy struck on Sunday afternoon when a newlywed couple, Dibakar Ghosh and his wife Priyanka Ghosh, lost their lives in a road accident near Gokulnagar TSR camp while returning from Kasbeshwari temple at Kamalasagar under Tripura's Sepahijala district.

According to reports, the couple had gone to offer puja at the Kasbeshwari temple along with Dibakar’s parents and aunt. After the rituals, Dibakar and Priyanka started for home on a scooty (registration number TR01AW9205), while the rest of the family followed in a car. 

On the way, the family found a huge crowd gathered on the road near Gokulnagar TSR camp, where they discovered Dibakar and Priyanka lying in a pool of blood.

TSR personnel immediately rushed them to hospitals. Priyanka was declared dead at Bishalgarh Sub-divisional Hospital, while Dibakar succumbed to his injuries at Hapania Hospital.

The deaths of the young couple, both the only children of their respective families, cast a pall of gloom over the Ghota area. Dibakar was employed with Tripura Grameen Bank at Belonia. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem before handing them over to the families.
