The Agartala Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with T.U.L.M. and the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, has taken the initiative to launch the ‘Bharat Mata Canteen cum Night Shelter’ project.
The program aims to provide overnight shelter and low-cost meals for vulnerable individuals visiting Agartala.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy informed the state assembly of this initiative in a written reply to a question raised by MLA Shailendra Chandra Nath. The minister stated that several steps are being taken to implement the project.
Construction of a dedicated building beside G.B. Hospital under T.U.L.M.’s management has been completed, and electrical connections are currently being installed. Additionally, another building under the Agartala Municipal Corporation at Radhanagar Bus Stand has been earmarked to jointly host the project.
Officials expressed optimism that the project will be operational very soon, offering essential support to those in need.
