A 35-year-old married man, suffering from a prolonged illness, reportedly took his own life on Saturday morning. According to local sources, Liton Chowdhury, son of Bimal Chowdhury of Purba Champamura under Bishalgarh Police Station, had been struggling with poor health for several years following an accident.

Liton, who had lost his wife, lived with his elderly parents and two children.

On Friday night, after finishing his dinner, he went to bed like any other day. In the early hours of Saturday, he allegedly left his room unnoticed by his family and hanged himself from a rubber tree behind his house.

Family members discovered his body when he did not appear in the morning and found him hanging outside. They immediately brought him down to the veranda, hoping he might still be alive, but he was found dead. Neighbors rushed to the scene following the family’s cries.

The incident was reported to Bishalgarh Police on Saturday morning. Police arrived promptly, recovered the body, and sent it to Vishalgarh Subdivision Hospital for postmortem examination.

Family members stated that Liton’s decision to end his life was due to his prolonged illness and desire to be free from suffering. Vishalgarh Police have registered an unnatural death case and are investigating the matter. The body will be handed over to the family after completion of the postmortem.

The entire Purba Champamura community is mourning the untimely death of Liton Chowdhury.
