Tripura Police of Jatrapur Police Station carried out a late-night operation in a remote village area, seizing a substantial quantity of dry ganja and detaining one individual, officials confirmed.
The detained one person has been identified as Nirmal Tripura.
Speaking on Sunday morning, Officer-in-Charge Partha Nath Bhowmik said that on Saturday evening, police received credible information that a large amount of ganja was being stored in sacks at the suspect’s residence in the eastern part of Kalachhara village.
Following the lead, the OC led a police team that included Sub-Inspectors Prosenjit Debnath and Amar Kishore Debbarma, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Kafurai Debbarma and other personnel, to conduct the raid.
Due to the area’s difficult terrain, the team had to park their vehicles nearly a kilometer away and continue on foot. Reaching the house around midnight, officers woke the suspect and carried out a thorough search of the premises. During the search, they recovered 36 kilograms of dry ganja packed inside three plastic sacks.
Police have initiated legal proceedings, and further investigation is underway to uncover any additional links to the case.
