A man named Uttam Nama was allegedly murdered in a violent attack at his home in the Kathalia Bhadra Bari area under Jatrapur Police Station in Sepahijala district on Tuesday.
According to police sources, unidentified assailants reportedly entered the house and attacked him with sharp weapons, stabbing and assaulting him multiple times before escaping from the spot.
Police said the attackers are suspected to have locked the house from outside after carrying out the crime. The incident was reported to Jatrapur Police Station at around 9 am, following which a team of officers reached the location and started an investigation.
Uttam Nama is survived by his two sons — elder son Utpal Nama (25) and younger son Chayan Nama (22). Police are looking into their whereabouts at the time of the incident along with other details that may help in the probe.
Investigators are working to uncover the motive behind the killing and trace the individuals involved. The gruesome murder has sparked fear and unrest among residents of the area.
