Tripura Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday reiterated the state government's commitment to protecting the interests of farmers, stating that farmers' welfare remains the government's top priority.
The minister participated in a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat's Video Conference Hall to assess preparations for the procurement of Rabi season paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The meeting was held in the presence of Tripura Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
Senior officials, including the Principal Secretary of the Food Department, Directors of the Food and Agriculture Departments, Panchayat Samiti Chairpersons and Vice-Chairpersons, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Block Development Officers (BDOs), and other concerned officials, joined the meeting through virtual mode.
During the review, Chowdhury held detailed discussions with the officials and issued necessary instructions and guidance to ensure that this year's paddy procurement process is carried out smoothly and efficiently through coordinated efforts across departments.
Emphasizing the government's continued commitment to farmers, the minister said every effort would be made to ensure that farmers receive the benefits of MSP procurement without inconvenience. He expressed confidence that the paddy procurement process would be conducted successfully this season, bringing relief and support to the farming community.
