Five personnel of the Tripura Police have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) as part of the Independence Day 2026 honours, recognising their dedicated service, professionalism and commitment to duty.

Across the country, a total of 1,057 personnel from the Police, Fire Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence (HG&CD), and Correctional Services have been awarded Gallantry and Service Medals this year.

The honours include 92 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service (PSM), of which 83 have been awarded to police personnel, four to Fire Service personnel, three to Civil Defence & Home Guard personnel and two to Correctional Service personnel.

In addition, 664 Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM) have been announced. These include 606 for Police Service personnel, 28 for Fire Service personnel, 18 for Civil Defence & Home Guard personnel and 12 for Correctional Service personnel.
