In celebration of Bengali New Year, the state Fisheries Department will set up multiple fish sales centers across various locations to sell fish at government-regulated prices. Fisheries Minister Sudhanshu Das shared this information while addressing the media on the occasion.

He stated that fish from the department’s own farms as well as cooperative fisheries will be supplied for the initiative. On the day of the New Year, around four to five varieties of fish will be made available, including rohu, catla, carp, mrigal, and silver carp.

He further added that under the Tripura Apex Fisheries Cooperative Society Limited, hilsa fish will also be sold at affordable rates at Maharajganj Market. This initiative aims to ensure that the general public can purchase fish at reasonable prices.

The minister noted that fish prices usually rise during the New Year celebrations, making it difficult for many people to afford traditional festivities. To address this, the government has arranged for fish sales at subsidized rates across the state, including at Maharajganj Market, so that people from all sections of society can participate in the celebrations without financial burden. Fish will be available for purchase at these outlets from tomorrow at discounted prices.
