Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, also known as Partha Sarathy and director of the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj, has been booked following disturbing allegations of sexual harassment and molestation of women students.

According to the FIR, several students—particularly those enrolled under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) scholarship category—were allegedly coerced into visiting the accused’s private quarters late at night and accompanying him on foreign trips. Some students claimed they received inappropriate messages from him, which were later deleted.

The complaint further alleges that CCTV cameras were secretly installed inside the women’s hostel under the pretext of security, but crucial footage was deliberately erased. Students resisting advances were allegedly threatened with expulsion, denial of degrees, or loss of academic documents.

The FIR also names Associate Dean Shwetha and others for allegedly abetting the misconduct by pressuring students to comply and discouraging them from filing complaints.

Concerns escalated after a July 28, 2025 letter from a PGDM student and an August 1, 2025 email from Group Captain Monica Bijlani of Air Headquarters highlighted continuing harassment at the institute. In response, a Governing Council was set up on July 31 under the chairmanship of scientist Dr. Krishna Venkatesh. A virtual meeting held with over 30 women students on August 3 surfaced multiple allegations of abuse and intimidation.

Police investigations also uncovered forged number plates with fake UN insignia on a luxury Volvo car belonging to the accused. The vehicle has been seized.

Authorities said Swami Chaitanyananda has faced similar accusations in 2009 and 2016 but evaded prosecution. He is currently absconding, and police have launched searches across several states. A Lookout Circular has been issued to prevent him from leaving the country.

Investigations are ongoing.
