Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy today announced that instructions have been issued to banking authorities to expand their branch network in rural areas to ensure wider access to financial services.

Speaking at the reopening of Union Bank’s Laxminarayan Bari Road branch on Monday, Roy said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has witnessed rapid development, and the banking sector has been working responsibly to deliver government schemes to beneficiaries.

“Banks are now developing with new technology and infrastructure to create a better environment and provide quality services to customers. Private sector banks took the lead in this initiative, but public sector banks are also keeping pace,” he stated.

The minister further informed that Union Bank, one of the oldest banks in the state, currently operates 11 branches. Two more branches will be opened soon to strengthen its reach in Tripura.

Roy emphasized that expanding banking services in rural areas is a priority, ensuring that people across the state have easy access to financial facilities.
