In a late-night joint operation, personnel of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested a drug peddler from the Agartala railway station and seized a significant quantity of dry ganja.
GRP OC, Tapas Das said that the accused, identified as Tapas Biswas (28), a resident of Madhuban, Kanthaltoli in West Tripura, was apprehended with 12.280 kg of dry ganja concealed in two backpacks.
He said that Biswas intended to transport the contraband to Bengaluru by train.
“A case has been registered against him at the Agartala GRP police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Preliminary investigation suggests that the seized ganja could fetch around Rs 2.5 lakh in the Bengaluru market”, he said.
He have produced him before the court.
