Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s ideals reflected in PM Modi’s initiatives and he laid the foundation for a socially equal India.
Addressing a state-level seminar organized to mark the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan, Dr. Saha emphasized the enduring relevance of Ambedkar’s ideals.
“Dr. Ambedkar worked relentlessly against hatred, malice, and injustice. He championed the cause of the oppressed and strived to eradicate social inequality. Though he was belatedly honored with the Bharat Ratna in 1990, his contributions to the making of modern India are unparalleled,” said Dr. Saha.
Highlighting Ambedkar’s emphasis on ensuring fundamental rights and promoting financial stability, the Chief Minister noted that Ambedkar envisioned a nation free from exploitation, with strong industries and a thriving agricultural sector.
“He tirelessly fought against superstition and advocated for rational thinking, shaping the inclusive society we live in today. It is vital for the younger generations to learn about his monumental contributions and understand the true history of our nation,” Dr. Saha added.
The Chief Minister further pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies and programs mirror Dr. Ambedkar’s vision.
“Through initiatives like banking inclusion for the poor, the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana benefiting STs, SCs, and women, and various efforts toward women’s empowerment, PM Modi’s governance clearly reflects the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar. Similarly, our state government has also launched several schemes aimed at uplifting backward classes, including Scheduled Castes,” Dr. Saha stated.
