Sensation gripped the Gangail area of Agartala after the body of a young man, identified as Ramzan Ali alias Titon, was recovered from the Howrah River on Sunday. Police suspect the incident to be a case of murder.
According to local sources, morning walkers at the newly developed riverside park in Gangail noticed bloodstains and immediately alerted the police. Upon reaching the spot, investigators found the blood marks suspicious and suspected that a body may have been dumped into the river. Authorities had reportedly received information about the youth's disappearance on Saturday night.
A joint search operation was subsequently launched under the supervision of the Sadar Sub-Divisional Administration, involving teams from the NDRF, FDRF, Civil Defence, and the Fire and Emergency Services. After an extensive search, the body of Ramzan Ali, also known as Titon, was recovered from the Howrah River.
Police said the deceased had multiple deep injury marks on his body, leading investigators to suspect that he was murdered before being thrown into the river. However, officials stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem examination report is received.
The incident has triggered panic and outrage in the locality. Police and forensic experts have begun a detailed investigation, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the suspected murder.
