Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Friday said that India is fully prepared to handle any situation, adding that border security has already been strengthened in view of the developments in neighbouring Bangladesh.

Speaking to the media after attending an event in Agartala, Dr. Saha said the situation in Bangladesh has remained unstable since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country under compelling circumstances.

“After her departure, the situation there has not been good. Terrorists, thieves, dacoits, and other criminals have reportedly escaped from jails. From this, we can anticipate what kind of challenges may arise,” he said.

Dr. Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, said that as the matter involves international implications, the state government has shared all necessary reports with the Centre.

“This is an international issue, and we have informed Delhi about the situation from our side. We are fully prepared to tackle any kind of situation,” he added.

The Chief Minister further stated that a coordination programme involving the Indian Army was held a few days ago to review preparedness.

“From the border security perspective, all necessary measures have already been strengthened. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior leadership are closely monitoring the situation and will take whatever steps are required. With the support of advanced technology, we are ready to deal with any situation,” Dr. Saha said.
