In a significant political development in the Kurti Assembly constituency, a total of 13 voters, including the elected Congress Panchayat member of Ward No. 4, Shahabuddin, have officially joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Party leaders claim that this move has strengthened the organizational base of the BJP in the area.

Baghon Gram Panchayat was long considered a stronghold of the Left Front. However, after the recent change in government, the panchayat came under Congress control. In this context, the defection of an elected Congress member is seen as politically significant.

On Sunday afternoon, a formal induction ceremony was held at Shahabuddin’s residence, where he, along with his family members and the 13 voters, took the BJP flag.

Party sources have indicated that more individuals have shown interest in joining the BJP in the near future. This shift is expected to potentially alter the political dynamics in Baghon Gram Panchayat within the Kadamtala–Kurti Assembly constituency.
