In a scathing attack on the ruling BJP, Kailashahar MLA and senior Congress leader Birajit Sinha on Sunday alleged that the saffron party thrives on “propaganda, factionalism, hooliganism, and murder,” and called upon party workers to unite against its "misrule."
Sinha made the remarks while addressing an extended meeting of the Unakoti District Congress, held at the meeting hall of his residence in Paiturbazar.
The meeting was presided over by Unakoti District Congress President Mohammad Badruzzaman and witnessed the participation of Congress leaders and workers from Fatikrai, Kumarghat, Pabiachhara, Karamchhara, and other parts of the district.
The meeting chalked out several strategies to strengthen the Congress at the grassroots level in view of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections.
Key issues discussed included opposition to the introduction of smart meters, prevention of child marriage, expansion of healthcare facilities, and the fight against drug abuse.
The party announced plans for a series of public outreach activities, including street and market meetings, rallies, and district-wide campaigns in the coming weeks.
In addition, the Congress vowed to launch a movement over pressing local demands, including the deteriorating law and order situation in Unkoti district and the need for improved airport and railway infrastructure. A larger protest against the BJP-led state government is also in the pipeline.
“There is no alternative to struggle. Public anger against the BJP’s misrule is growing. If we use this moment to build up our organization, the Congress will surely return to power in the state,” said Birajit Sinha.
