In the wake of a tragic incident involving the alleged suicide of a school student, the Tripura government has constituted a high-level inquiry committee following directions from Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

The Directorate of Secondary Education has formed a three-member panel to probe the death of Trisha Majumder, a Class XII student of Sonarpur Higher Secondary School in Barpathari, Belonia, under the South Tripura District.

According to officials from the Education Department, the committee includes Lisa Bardhan, Joint Director of Elementary Education; Kajal Kumar Bhowmik, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the Directorate of Secondary Education; and Sudip Sarkar, OSD at the Office of the District Education Officer, West.

Preliminary reports suggest that the student may have taken the extreme step after allegedly being reprimanded by a teacher. However, officials have clarified that a thorough investigation is being conducted to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

The committee has been tasked with examining all facets of the case and is expected to submit its report by Wednesday.
