In a major boost to healthcare and medical education in Tripura, the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) under the Ministry of AYUSH has approved the establishment of the Tripura Government Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital at Udaipur in Gomati district.

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced the development through a Facebook post on Friday. He stated that the institution has received approval with an annual intake capacity of 60 students, and admissions are expected to begin from the 2026–27 academic session.

Expressing his happiness over the achievement, the Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his continued support and leadership in strengthening the country's healthcare and medical education sectors.

Dr. Saha said the new Ayurvedic medical college will play a significant role in promoting traditional systems of medicine, expanding opportunities for aspiring medical students in the state, and enhancing healthcare services for the people of Tripura.

The establishment of the college is expected to strengthen Ayurvedic education and contribute to the growth of alternative healthcare practices in the region.
