In a significant anti-smuggling operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Customs Preventive Force successfully seized gold worth approximately Rs. 1.59 crore on the night of 20 September from Sepahijala district.

Acting on specific intelligence, BSF troops from Border Outpost N C Nagar under Sector Head Quarters Gokulnagar, in coordination with Customs Preventive Force Sonamura, conducted a joint operation around 11:15 PM. 

The operation led to the recovery of 12 gold biscuits, weighing around 1.39 kg, from the residence of an Indian villagers in N C Nagar, under Sonamura police station, District Sepahijala.

BSF in a statement said that the seizure underscores the effective collaboration between the BSF and sister law enforcement agencies in curbing cross-border smuggling activities and enhancing national security.

Officials stated that such coordinated efforts reflect the commitment of security forces to prevent illegal trafficking and safeguard the country’s economic interests.
