A gruesome murder has sent shockwaves through the local community after a mutilated body was recovered from a pond in Kadamtala of North District.
According to initial investigations, the deceased has been identified as the notorious local criminal, Zamir Uddin.
The horrifying discovery occurred on Saturday morning in South Kadamtala village, under Kadamtala police jurisdiction. Abdul Latif’s son, Alauddin, also known as Riaz, first spotted the unidentified body floating in a pond in Ward No. 7, sparking widespread alarm among residents. Locals promptly informed the Kadamtala police, who arrived at the scene and recovered the body.
Police, with the help of the community, identified the deceased as 36-year-old Zamir Uddin, son of Tuton Mia, a permanent resident of South Kadamtala, Ward No. 7.
According to police sources, the body was found in a severely mutilated condition. The perpetrators had crushed Zamir Uddin’s head with a heavy object, making identification difficult. Based on the state of the body, police believe this was a premeditated killing.
Zamir Uddin was reportedly a notorious local criminal with multiple past allegations of criminal activities, according to both local sources and police records. The motive behind the murder remains unclear, but authorities are pursuing the investigation.
Kadamtala police have arrested two individuals on suspicion in connection with the case Rayna Bibi, wife of Elias Ali and Abul Hossain, son of Elias Ali.
The body has been sent to the morgue for post-mortem examination. The police continue to conduct interrogations and gather evidence as the investigation unfolds.
