Tripura Police arrested brother and detained mother of a 9 year old girl who was allegedly killed at Manubazar under South District of the state.
The mysterious and tragic murder of nine-year-old Ujjashikha Tripura in daughter of Rahim Tripura, has taken a significant turn.
Yesterday, the Tripura Police arrested Ujjashikha’s elder brother, 18-year-old Sahel Tripura, in connection with the case.
Additionally, the deceased’s mother, Sabita Tripura, has been detained and is currently being interrogated by police officials at the Manubazar police station.
Ujjashikha, a resident of Kalavepa Nalsing Sardar Para under Manubazar police jurisdiction in Sabrum subdivision, disappeared mysteriously on May 21 at around 4 pm.
Despite extensive searching efforts, no clues were found until the following day, May 22, when her lifeless body was discovered in a nearby rubber garden adjacent to her home.
The brutal incident has sent shockwaves throughout the local community, with widespread grief and anger. The grieving parents have alleged that their daughter was murdered. Upon receiving the distressing news, the police immediately arrived at the scene, recovered the body, and took it to the hospital for an autopsy. A thorough investigation was promptly launched.
Following a night of intensive interrogation, police took Sahel Tripura into custody as a key suspect. Meanwhile, the deceased’s mother Sabita Tripura is also undergoing questioning to assist the investigation.
In a show of solidarity and concern, a delegation from the All India Democratic Women's Association visited the family home today. They offered heartfelt condolences and support to the bereaved family.
