Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath today said that if BJP comes to power in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, development works will gain more speed, as BJP is the party that thinks and works for the janajati people.

The Minister said this while addressing an election campaign at Sambhuram Para in Bodhjungnagar-Wakhinagar in support of BJP candidate Ranabir Debbarma.

He said the state has witnessed massive development, starting from housing, water, roads, self-help groups, etc.

“Those who have already ruled the state have never worked for development. In Sambhuram Para, there are 749 families, among them 300 families are receiving free rice, 129 families have received government houses, and more than 183 houses have been sanctioned. There is 100 percent water connection. People want education, health, food, clothes, etc. Have you seen any political party provide such things? In the last seven years, the BJP government has given houses to 4 lakh 54 thousand families, while during 35 years of CPIM rule, only 78,000 houses were given. We are providing 5 kg of free rice to 24 lakh people. Why was this not given earlier? Before 2018, there were 4,160 SHGs; now there are 54,000 SHGs. The then CPIM government gave Rs 28 crore, while we have given Rs 763 crore and 1.8 lakh ‘Lakh Pati Didis’,” said the Minister.

The Minister informed that all such achievements are possible under the double-engine BJP government, and when BJP comes to power in TTAADC, it will be a triple-engine government, and more development work will be carried out.

“In these 7.5 years, tribal people have received due respect. Many tribal individuals have been awarded the Padma Shri. Our government is working to develop tribal areas, and Rs 1,400 crore from the World Bank is being spent on their development. We have also increased the social pension for Samajpatis. The government is executing one development project after another. The then CPIM government always suppressed the janajati, never worked for their upliftment, and never protected their rights, which is now being done by the BJP government. You people will cast your votes based on development. If we come to power in TTAADC, more development work will be boosted,” he said.
