Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is firmly committed to establishing healthy, peaceful, and development-oriented politics in Tripura. Addressing a massive public meeting organized by the BJP Chawmanu Mandal, he asserted that no amount of violence or tension can suppress the BJP, one of the world’s largest political parties.
The Chief Minister said that earlier extremist organizations like ATTF and NLFT were created to silence public voices, but the BJP-led government has successfully brought many misguided youths back into the mainstream. He alleged that CPI(M) and some regional parties continue to attempt divisive politics by creating unrest among jaati and janajati communities.
Dr. Saha expressed happiness over the overwhelming welcome he received from tribal communities after arriving at Manu railway station, stating that people have strong faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. He emphasized that peace has been restored in Tripura and several welfare schemes are being implemented specifically for janajati communities.
Referring to attempts to obstruct BJP activities through protests and road disruptions, Dr. Saha said such tactics would not succeed. “We will respond strictly within the law. This kind of politics will not continue in Tripura,” he asserted.
The Chief Minister revealed that instead of the expected 1,868 people, as many as 2,499 tribal men and women joined the BJP during the programme, strengthening the party further.
He also criticized corruption in the TTAADC, noting that despite the state government allocating 39.06 percent of the 2024–25 budget to the ADC, there has been little visible development.
Citing the massive public response, Dr. Saha confidently predicted that the BJP would win all 28 seats in the upcoming TTAADC elections. Several BJP leaders and ministers were present at the event.
