Railway passengers in Tripura received welcome news after the Ministry of Railways approved the regular operation of the Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Special Train.
The decision came following a request from Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conveyed the approval through an official letter. As per the announcement, the special train service operating under numbers 01666/01665 will now run permanently as a regular express train.
The train will be renamed Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Express and will operate with new train numbers 11666/11665.
The move is expected to provide major relief to passengers travelling between Tripura and central India. The demand for converting the special service into a regular train had been raised for a long time by commuters and railway passengers of the state.
Reacting to the development, MP Biplab Kumar Deb thanked the Railway Minister and the Central Government for accepting the proposal. He stated that the request was made considering the growing needs and convenience of the passengers.
He further expressed confidence that the decision would strengthen railway connectivity and benefit thousands of travellers from Tripura.
