Bangladesh has sent a 600 kg consignment of premium mangoes to Tripura, India, as a gesture of goodwill aimed at strengthening bilateral and cultural ties between the two neighbours.

The gift was formally received by Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha. According to Hasan Al Bashar Abul Ulayee, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala, the initiative reflects the ongoing friendly relations between Bangladesh and the Indian state.

He said that the shipment—comprising Haribhanga and Amrapali mangoes—was sent to the Chief Minister, Governor, and other senior officials as part of efforts to deepen diplomatic warmth. He also noted that the annual exchange of seasonal fruits has become a meaningful tradition symbolizing shared cultural bonds and long-standing friendship.

The consignment reached Tripura via the Akhaura Integrated Check Post in Brahmanbaria district, where it was cleared by customs before being distributed. Packed in 120 cartons, the mangoes will be handed over through the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala.

Such exchanges are carried out regularly, with Bangladesh sending mangoes to Tripura each year, while the Tripura government reciprocates with GI-tagged Queen variety pineapples, reinforcing a tradition of mutual respect and cross-border goodwill.
