In a major blow to narcotics traffickers, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) based on specific intelligence, apprehended one individual in general area Teliamura, Khowai District, Tripura on 11 April 2026.
During the operation, a Mahindra Pick-up vehicle bearing registration number TR01AY-1674 was intercepted, leading to recovery of approximately 2,00,000 Yaba tablets valued at around Rs 16 crores. The apprehended individual was identified as Mr. Raju Deb (44), a resident of Jalilpur, West Tripura.
The apprehended individual along with the seized contraband and vehicle have been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The operation underscores the continued resolve of Assam Rifles, in close coordination with DRI, to combat the menace of narcotics trafficking and maintain a secure environment in the region.
