Assam Rifles, DRI seize gold worth Rs 19 crore, unaccounted cash in Tripura

In a major crackdown on illegal smuggling activities, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), seized gold biscuits and unaccounted Indian currency during an operation conducted in the general areas of Shantipara and Dhaleshwar in Agartala, Tripura.

Assam Rifle said that acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team recovered gold biscuits weighing approximately 14 kilograms, valued at around Rs 19 crore. In addition, unaccounted Indian currency amounting to Rs 2.87 crore was also seized during the operation.

“The successful seizure underscores the effective coordination and swift action by Assam Rifles and the DRI in targeting organized smuggling networks operating in the region. Following the operation, the seized gold and cash were handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigation and initiation of legal proceedings as per existing laws”, it said.
