A person from Assam's Jorhat district, identified as Dipak Chutia, has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 at Kalachara Primary Health Centre under the Sabroom Sub-division of South Tripura district.
According to Dr. Sailendra Tripura, Medical Officer In-Charge (MOIC) of the health centre, the patient is an employee of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and had arrived in Tripura about six days ago.
“He came to the Kalachara PHC for treatment, following which we collected and sent his samples for testing. The results have confirmed that he is COVID-19 positive,” Dr. Tripura said.
Health authorities have begun necessary contact tracing and are monitoring the situation closely to prevent any possible spread of the infection.
