The week-long Arunachal–Thailand Business Study and Exposure Tour concluded successfully in Thailand on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to expand international cooperation in agriculture, agro-processing, and trade promotion.
The delegation, led by Likha Maaj, renowned agriculturist and entrepreneur who introduced Large Cardamom (1994) and Kiwi (1999) to Arunachal Pradesh, met His Excellency Nagesh Singh, IFS, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative of India to UNESCAP, at the Embassy of India in Bangkok. Ms. Jagpreet Kaur, IFS, Secretary (Economic & Commerce), was also present during the meeting.
During the interaction, Ambassador Nagesh Singh lauded the Arunachal delegation for its proactive initiative in exploring global partnerships and promoting the state’s agricultural and indigenous products. He encouraged the team to strengthen institutional linkages between the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and the Rubber Authority of Thailand (RAOT) to facilitate cooperation in the rubber sector.
The Ambassador assured the Embassy’s full support in liaising with the RAOT for promoting rubber coagulation and cum-lump technology from latex, which could significantly benefit the state’s growing rubber industry.
In addition, the Embassy committed to extending comprehensive support in showcasing Arunachal’s fruit-based wines, agricultural produce, and indigenous products at upcoming trade and cultural events in Thailand, thereby opening new export opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Ambassador Singh also highlighted the importance of deeper engagement with the India–Thai Chamber of Commerce (ITCC), Bangkok, to promote business collaborations and knowledge exchange between Arunachal Pradesh and Thai enterprises.
Expressing gratitude, Likha Maaj, who also serves as the Lead Promoter of the Mega Food Park at Banderdewa and the first Chairman of the State Rubber Board, said that the exposure visit has paved the way for strategic partnerships in agri-business, food processing, and technology exchange between Arunachal Pradesh and Thailand.
The Ambassador congratulated the team for its visionary efforts, describing the initiative as “a significant step towards strengthening India–Thailand economic relations and empowering Arunachal Pradesh to tap into global markets.”
The Arunachal delegation’s Thailand visit is expected to yield long-term benefits by promoting investment, innovation, and cross-border collaboration in the state’s agricultural and food processing sectors.
