With the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections approaching, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit Tripura on February 20, sources from the state BJP indicated.
Senior BJP leaders in Tripura have confirmed that the Union Home Minister is likely to be on a brief, one-day tour of the state. Although the detailed itinerary has not yet been finalized, the visit is being considered politically important in the run-up to the district council polls.
“While the official schedule is still awaited, we understand that the Home Minister will be arriving in Tripura on February 20,” a BJP source said.
During his stay, Amit Shah is expected to attend a government-related programme, focusing on development initiatives undertaken by the Centre in the state. He is also likely to hold a closed-door meeting with the BJP’s state leadership, where key issues, including organizational preparedness and strategies for the upcoming TTAADC election, may come up for discussion.
