Construction of the upcoming international cricket stadium at Narsingarh in Agartala is moving ahead at a steady pace, with officials indicating that major work is likely to be completed by October 2026.

Authorities are also hopeful that the venue could eventually be developed to host high-profile domestic and international matches, including future IPL games, subject to necessary approvals and infrastructure standards.

Once completed, the stadium is expected to become the second international-level cricket venue in the North East region after Assam.

According to Tripura Cricket Association secretary Subrata Dey, the project titled “Construction of International Cricket Stadium at Narsingarh, Agartala” is being carried out by Ram Kripal Singh Construction Pvt. Ltd., with a total BOQ value of ₹185.13 crore.

He stated that as of June 30, 2026, work worth around ₹178 crore has been completed, including materials already supplied to the site. Earlier records show that by July 31, 2025, work valued at about ₹151 crore had been finished, of which ₹114 crore accounts for completed construction and ₹37 crore represents materials delivered for installations such as lighting, HVAC systems, lifts, firefighting equipment, and electrical infrastructure.

Dey added that after July 2025, approximately ₹27 crore worth of additional work has been billed against completed execution and material usage. The remaining pending work, estimated at around ₹7 crore, is currently in advanced stages, with orders placed and subcontractors already engaged.

Key unfinished components include IBMS works (₹0.50 crore), air conditioning (₹1 crore), roofing for the main pavilion, media and TV production areas (₹3.50 crore), ACP cladding (₹0.75 crore), false ceiling (₹0.50 crore), and fire safety systems (₹0.75 crore).

He further noted that floodlight installation is progressing, with foundations for six high-mast towers already completed. The lighting equipment has been delivered, and all structures are ready for installation. According to the current schedule, the general stands and premium seating-II are expected to be completed by June 20, 2026, followed by the media pavilion and broadcast facilities by July 20, 2026, with remaining works targeted for completion by August 31, 2026.

Officials said that if construction continues without major delays, final finishing and commissioning could extend into late 2026, with an informal target around October for full completion. Stakeholders are also optimistic that, once operational, the stadium could meet the standards required for major domestic leagues and possibly IPL fixtures in the future.

Dey emphasized that timely coordination and completion of the remaining technical works will be crucial to ensure the stadium meets international specifications.
