Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has directed officials to explore the operational feasibility of introducing a special weekly train service between Agartala and Haridwar.
The move follows a request made on July 19 by Tripura Lok Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who urged the Railway Minister to consider launching the service to strengthen connectivity between the Northeast and northern India.
In a formal communication to MP Deb, Minister Vaishnaw stated, “Concerned officials have been instructed to check the operational feasibility for the introduction of a new special train between Agartala and Haridwar once a week. Further action will be taken after feasibility.”
Responding to the development, MP Biplab Kumar Deb expressed heartfelt appreciation for the prompt action taken by the Ministry of Railways.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji for prioritizing this important demand and taking the first step toward realizing a weekly special train service between Agartala and Haridwar,” Deb said.
